One person was seriously injured Friday morning in a fall at the construction site where Norwood Hospital is being rebuilt, according to the fire department.
Norwood Hospital is being rebuilt after a June 2020 flood that caused catastrophic damage to the old facility. Demolition began two years later, and the metal structure of the new building is now rising on the site.
At approximately 10 a.m. Friday, the fire department said it responded to multiple calls reporting a fall at the construction site on Washington Street.
"A Norwood Police Officer on a nearby detail was able to direct arriving companies and begin administering aid to the injured worker who reportedly fell from the top of the 2nd floor," the department wrote on Facebook.
The worker was taken to Boston Medical Center in serious condition, and police will investigate the incident, fire officials said.
