Veterans Day parade to feature over 50 entries | Mineral County WV News and Tribune | wvnews.com

KEYSER, W.Va. (WV News) — With over 50 entries, this Saturday’s Mineral County Veterans Day Parade will get underway at noon as it proceeds down South Main Street to Armstrong Street and on to Water Street.

As with tradition, the Keyser Boy Scout Troop 27 Color Guard will present the colors to start the parade, along with Cub Scout Pack 27.

Serving as grand marshal is World War II veteran Marion Dorsey, who is also celebrating his 98th birthday Saturday.

Graduating from Keyser High School in 1944, Dorsey enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and was assigned to Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines with the 534th Engineering Squadron.

He is being escorted in a U.S. Navy Jeep by Navy veteran Leon Ravenscroft.

Local veterans’ organizations including Boyce-Houser Post 41 American Legion, Washington-Smith Post 152 American Legion, and Washington-Smith Post 152 American Legion Auxiliary, Queens Point VFW Post 6775, Nancy Hanks VFW Post 3518 will also be in attendance.

With floats, bands and lots of elected officials and their challengers, the parade features something for everyone, including the popular Ali Ghan Shrine Motor Corps.

Local marching bands from Keyser High and Petersburg High School will provide music as they make their way throughout the parade route as participants line up Harley O. Staggers toward Main Street where the parade will begin so all spectators along Main Street can see each of the entries.

Those participating in the parade will line up as they arrive at the parade route, with no specific locations designated for participants, including: Elsie Hollingsworth 2024 Baby Apple Dumpling Queen, Jenna Biggs-Cosner 2024 Ms. West Virginia Country Roads Festival, Potomac Area Young Life, Everline DJing and Entertainment, AR Stix & Shirts, Rob’s Body Shop, Ridgeley Distributors, Moore’s Towing, Mineral Co Print Shop & Web Hosting LLC, Jeremy Boinovych- Dump Truck, Cevin Bosley Deuce & a half, Fort Ashby Cub Scout Pack 69, Keyser Volunteer Fire Department, Auxiliary 33, New Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Fort Ashby Volunteer Fire Department, Timbrook Ford, Double B’s Bar and Grille, Girl Scout Troop 14125, 2024 JR Miss Treasure Mountain Festival Addalyn Dispanet, After-hours Bail Bonds and Devil Dog Recovery, 2024 Ms. Valley District Brittianna Davis, 2024 Valley District JR Ambassador Lilyana Davis, 2024 Elegant Ms. Valley District Mindy Kimble, Del. Rick Hillenbrand, Joel Whisner, US Army Veteran for Sheriff of Mineral County, Girl Scouts Service Unit 14-14, Mineral County Democrats, Veteran Amanda Vincent for WV House of Delegates 88th District, DAR- Daughters of the American Revolution, Mineral County Commission, Aging and Family Services Meals on Wheels, Cindy Pyles for Mineral County Commissioner, Gumps’s Garage, McNeill’s Rangers, Camp 582. As always, the parade will conclude with equestrian entries featuring: Lead Horse: Natasha Henry — flag carrier; Alexis Morrill, Yankee Hill Equine Services and Four Seasons Ranch.
