LOCK HAVEN — The Clinton County Planning Department and County Engineer/Planner Stephen Gibson announced that construction on the Bald Eagle Valley Trail (BEVT) will continue this fall.
The newest section, BEVT Phase 5, will connect Katie’s Crossing to Pine Creek Township And will include a 1-mile trail, a trailhead parking area, and a paved ramp leading to the Katie’s Crossing Bridge.
The project design was completed by engineering firm Stiffler McGraw, with funding provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) through its Community Conservation Partnership Program Grant.
Construction is being fully funded through a Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Grant, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) on behalf of Clinton County Government.
LTT Trucking, LLC, based in North Bend, Clinton County, has been awarded the construction contract. The majority of construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, with final site restoration planned for the Spring of 2025.
In addition, Clinton County has been awarded another DCNR Community Conservation Partnership Program Grant for BEVT Phase 6. This phase will extend the trail from the Castanea Township Trailhead, located at the historic Castanea Train Station, to the City of Lock Haven near Hanna Street.
Final design is expected to be completed this winter, with construction anticipated for the Summer of 2025.
