See How Rubber Ducks Can Win You Cash In DuPage County

WARRENVILLE, IL — A rubber duck will win a $500 prize at the 2023 Rubber Duck race at Blackwell Forest Preserve in Warrenville. Sponsorship for the charity race, set for Sept. 7, opens June 12.

"Our forest preserves provide important habitat for wildlife and help make DuPage County a healthy and beautiful place to live. We are proud to partner with the District to raise funds to help care for these precious places. And we have fun along the way," Friends of Forest Preserve board member Karyn Charvat said in a news release. Charvat added, "We are looking forward to watching the ducks race to the finish along the restored Spring Brook."

Anyone who is 18 or older can click the link to sponsor a rubber duck. Sponsorship costs $25 apiece, or $100 for five ducks. There are a total of 250 rubber ducks available for sponsorship. Sales kick off June 12 and will end Sept. 4.

During the race, participants will gather at the east bridge of St. James Forest Preserve to launch their ducks into the DuPage River. The race is expected to conclude after an hour. Funds from the rubber duck race will be used to help Forest Preserve District of DuPage County grow native plants and curb the growth of invasive plants throughout DuPage County.
