Oct 16, 2024

A Jersey City construction worker who was injured at a work site in Liberty State Park nine years ago will receive $2 million from three construction companies to settle a lawsuit.

Erik Sierra, 32, suffered multiple injuries at the Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal building inside the state park in June 19, 2015, causing “severe and permanent injuries with extreme pain and suffering,” said the lawsuit, first filed in 2016 and then amended the following year.

Sierra, who worked as a laborer for Liberty Mechanical Contractor, was moving a boiler pump when a metal grate gave way and caused him to fall, the lawsuit claimed.
