Interstate 74 to undergo road closures this week due to construction
Interstate 74 West will close again for multiple days, according to a release from the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Partial closures will also go into effect on I-74 East throughout the week, the release reads.
The restrictions are necessary for contractors to finish pavement markings on I-74, remove remaining traffic barriers, install a guardrail and work on a newly reconstructed pedestrian bridge over the highway.
I-74 also underwent restrictions and a total closure last week for paving operations. As of right now, no more total closures for I-74 are scheduled, a spokesperson for ODOT said.
Crews anticipate I-74 being fully opened by the end of November, the spokesperson added.
Construction is part of the Mill Creek Expressway Projects and will improve the interchanges between I-74 and I-75.
The partial closures begin Wednesday. Here are the upcoming scheduled closures:
Single-lane (right lane) closure on I-74 East, from the northbound Beekman Street overpass to the Emore Street overpass, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday.
What is a Texas Turnaround? Essentially, an extended U-turn. A Texas Turnaround is a lane that allows cars to U-turn onto a road with cars traveling in the opposite direction. The turnarounds are often over or under a freeway or expressway. The design is said to have originated in Texas.
